2. Physical properties

Ulotropine, also known as hexamethylenetetramine, molecular formula C6H12N4, is white hygroscopic crystalline powder or colorless shiny rhomboid crystal, flammable. Ulotropine is the downstream product of formaldehyde, which can adjust the operating load of formaldehyde.Physical properties: white hygroscopic crystalline powder or colorless glossy rhomboid crystal, purity greater than 99.3, moisture less than 0.2.White hygroscopic crystalline powder or colorless glossy rhomboid crystal, flammable. Melting point 263℃, if above the melting point that sublimation and decomposition, but not melting. When the temperature rises to 300℃, hydrogen cyanide is released. When the temperature rises again, it is decomposed into methane, hydrogen and nitrogen. Relative density 1.331(20/4℃), flash point 250℃. Almost odorless, sweet and bitter. Soluble in water and chloroform, insoluble in carbon tetrachloride, acetone, benzene and ether, insoluble in petroleum ether. Decompose into ammonia and formaldehyde in a weak acid solution. When in contact with flame, it burns immediately and produces a smokeless flame. It's volatile.

3. Product use

1. Hexamethylenetetramine is mainly used as curing agent of resins and plastics, catalyst and foaming agent of amino plastics, accelerator of rubber vulcanization (accelerator H), anti-shrinkage agent of textiles, etc.

2. Hexamethylenetetramine is an organic synthetic raw material used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce chloramphenicol.

3. Hexamethylenetetramine can be used as a disinfectant for the urinary system. It has no antibacterial effect on its own and is effective against Gram-negative bacteria. Its 20% solution can be used for armpit odor, sweaty feet, ringworm and so on. It is mixed with sodium hydroxide and sodium phenol to be used as phosgene absorbent in gas masks.

4. It is used to make pesticide insecticides. Hexamethylenetetramine and fuming nitric acid can be used to produce highly explosive cyclone explosive, RDX for short.

5. Hexamethylenetetramine can also be used as a reagent for the determination of bismuth, indium, manganese, cobalt, thorium, platinum, magnesium, lithium, copper, uranium, beryllium, tellurium, bromide, iodide and other chromatography reagents.

6. It is a commonly used military fuel.

7. Used as curing agent of resin and plastic, accelerator of vulcanization of rubber (accelerator H), anti-shrinkage agent of textiles, and used for making fungicides, explosives, etc. When it is used for medicinal purposes, it is bactericidal for mild urinary tract infection after being taken internally when acid urine decomposes and produces formaldehyde. It is used for curing ringworm, antiperspirant and bromhidrosis. Mixed with caustic soda and sodium phenol, used in gas masks as phosgene absorbent.

8. Ulotropine is also a common corrosion inhibitor used to slow the corrosion of metal materials

4. Marking, packaging, storage and transportation

Industrial hexamethylenetetramine internal film feed bag, external woven bag or other suitable material packaging, each bag net weight 25Kg.

Packaging bags shall be marked with: trademark, this standard number, manufacturer's name, product name, lot number, net weight and fire proof and moisture-proof mark conforming to GB190.

When transporting industrial hexamethyltetramine, it should be packed in a van or cabin with a cover.

Industrial hexamethyltetramine should be stored in a dry, clean and ventilated warehouse, not in the open.

Industrial hexamethyltetramine flammable, avoid contact with open flame.
